Konoha Dance Ball Chapter 3

The city of Konoha was deadly quiet; all the buildings had been closed down in preparation for the night, the streets were empty as the wind howled, and there was only one spot in the entire area that was active. The sky surrounding the famous Hidden Leaf Village was dark; however, despite the blackness, stars were able to shine their light onto the world below.   In the forest around, all the animals that were normally noisy bursting full of activity were now quiet, resting with younglings to keep warm against the cold night. In the distance, the full moon white and bright against the black background rose into the air bit by bit shining its radiance across Konoha.

In the many pavements that made up the various streets of the village, Naruto Uzumaki rushed down the long paths in order to reach his destination at a quicker pace afraid of being late. The wind seemed to encourage him blowing gusts of air that propelled him forward with speed that was similar to the Fourth Hokage.   Naruto passed by many buildings all with different family names on their doors, he needed to reach the Hyuga house! Eventually, after ten minutes of searching, he came across a giant wooden home with emblazed glass windows full of figures inside. The main door was extremely beautiful; a glass layer separated by delicate lines of gray designed to scatter any vision that looked through and delicate patterns of wood decorated the outer frame of the door.  Above the entrance to the house was the name written in big and bold letters, "HYUGA RESIDENCE".

Naruto gulped as he flattened his spiky yellow hair in a useless attempt to make it look straight.  He lifted a hesitant hand that was shaking as he remembered Hinata's father's stern gaze that could demoralize anything.  Forcing himself, the hand knocked trice on the door emanating a large sound.  Time slowed down as a growing shadow advanced on the inner side of the house.  A creaking sound stemmed from the metal hinges of the door, a twist of the wooden knob, and a figure stepped into the light. Unfortunately, for Naruto, it was Hinata's father Hiashi Hyuga who stood in the open doorway with his long dark brown hair and stern gray eyes. Quickly looking into Naruto's blue eyes for an inspection, he called down Hinata who descended down a nearby staircase.

Hinata looked at Naruto with an innocent look; instantly Naruto blushed as she realized that she wore a turquoise strapless dress that exposed her petite shoulder frame. The clothing ran down the curves of her body as well as showing the outlines of her breasts.  Hinata's face was perspiring as droplets of sweat began to form on her cheek and neck, her fair white skin shone with the new appearance of water, and her dark blue hair ran down her back making her look very beautiful.  Hiashi instantly placed a hand on Naruto's dusty tuxedo shoulder that stiffened with fright.

"Hello Naruto, thank you for accompanying my daughter to the Konoha Dance Ball, I would go but I have several matters to attend to. Hinata be back here at eleven. Okay?" Hiashi asked as both of them nodded to his agreement.

Slipping a shivering arm through his, Hinata guided Naruto's paralyzed figure out of the doorway, and onto the street where they walked away from the house.  Naruto could have sworn that he saw a distinct smile appear on Hiashi's usually complex face.

"Sorry about that freeze-up, Hinata, you look very beautiful tonight! I'm sure we're both going to have a wonderful night together." Naruto said as he knew he shouldn't have said the word "together".

Hinata, in response, turned her face with a slight smile on her face as her cheeks filled with blood rushing towards the surface.  Naruto's tuxedo was getting to be moist with sweat as it formed all over his body; the black and white color of the shirt underneath and the jacket on top was beginning to form small damp patches. In order to break up the mood, Naruto decided to implement plan B to encourage the start of the night to go smoothly.

"Hey, I've got a gift for you Hinata, it's a necklace that's made from a rare crystal that only grows every five months under a full moon. It was quite hard to get but I decided this is my way of saying thank you for inviting me!" Naruto explained as he pulled out a small box.

Opening it, a silver chain appeared with a pale, white gem linked to the chain. Lifting her hair, Naruto went behind Hinata and placed it around her neck linking it. She looked at the necklace and then at Naruto, a romantic sparkle within her eyes.  She placed her hand in his and their faces got closer and closer as both closed their eyes.  However, a violent jolt awakened both of them as a call erupted from behind them. Tenten and Neji appeared right next to them, Neji looking curious at why their faces were so close together…

"Hey guys, we saw from across the street! How about you two lovebirds can come with us to the Ball, come on Neji don't be sulky, and it'll be fun!" Tenten exclaimed as she shook him up.

Wearing a pink dress with one strap over her shoulder and retaining the usual Chinese bun hair style, Tenten looked very sexy, which did charm Neji into accepting her date.  Tenten rolled her eyes at the silent, grumpy Neji who fell back in order to talk to Naruto.  In astonishment, the weapons specialist pointed to Hinata's necklace that seemed to glow basking in the moonlight's radiance and asked where it came from. She merely whispered one thing to Tenten, who turned red almost immediately as a thousand speculations formed in her head. Unfortunately, for Naruto, Neji also heard what his cousin had said and looked at him hard with his gray eyes.    

"So you did? That's a very ni-," Neji sputtered as Tenten finished the word aloud.

Eventually, both couples resumed walking down the street which would lead them towards the  Konoha Dance Ball where all the couples were gathering.  Naruto had rejoined with Hinata and were holding hands much to their delight, however, in Tenten and Neji's case it was more forced as Neji was wearing a tired and annoyed face while Tenten's was happy.
